White Hart Inn, Grade II monumentaal café in High Street, Crawley, Engeland
The White Hart Inn is a protected pub on Crawley's High Street that combines timber-framed sections with brick additions. Inside, full-height wooden paneling and traditional bar counters give the space its distinctive character.
The building dates from around 1770 when it replaced an earlier inn. Between 1810 and 1895, it also served as Crawley's post office and was a stopping point for coach travelers.
De pub was lange tijd een plaats waar inwoners samenkwamen en samen vierden. Je kunt nog steeds voelen hoe belangrijk het voor de gemeenschap was.
The pub is only about 350 meters from Crawley Station, easily reachable on foot. It offers local ales, a pool table, and regular entertainment including karaoke nights.
The building incorporates surviving elements from a structure dating back to the early 1600s, hidden beneath later additions. Between 1800 and 1883, it also operated as a corn exchange, reflecting its role in the local trade network of that time.
