Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden, Bronzen beeldentuin in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden is a sculpture garden with bronze figures in Springfield, Massachusetts. Five sculptures are spread across three areas near the Springfield Library, including a 14-foot (4.3 meter) Horton the Elephant and the Cat in the Hat.
The garden opened in 2002 after six years of creation by sculptor Lark Grey Dimond-Cates, stepdaughter of Theodor Seuss Geisel. The project honors the author's literary works and his hometown roots.
De figuren komen uit kinderboeken die meerdere generaties kennis maakten met fantasievolle vertelkunst door visuele kunst. Bezoekers herkennen de vertrouwde personages meteen en kunnen de wereld van de auteur binnenstappen.
The garden is located near the Springfield Library in the Quadrangle district and is accessible to visitors. You can walk through and view the bronze figures at your own pace.
A bronze statue shows Theodor Geisel working at his desk next to the Cat in the Hat. This portrayal captures the author's creative process in his hometown.
