Lincoln County strekt zich uit over 307 vierkante mijl land met heuvels, meren en landbouwvelden tussen de metropolitane gebieden Charlotte en Hickory.
De General Assembly van North Carolina richtte Lincoln County op in 1778, vernoemd naar de stad Lincoln in Engeland.
