The Lizhi Society is a complex of several buildings in traditional Chinese style, arranged around open courtyards. The rooms connect through corridors and doorways that create a gradual path through the entire site.

The buildings were established in the early 1900s when Nanjing was becoming a center for new ideas and political discussion. They were created to provide space for meetings and exchange among thinkers and activists of the time.

De ruimtes laten zien hoe mensen hier samenkwamen om ideeën uit te wisselen en hun toekomst vorm te geven. De architectuur zelf vertelt het verhaal van deze tijd van verandering, met details die nog steeds die passie weerspiegelen.

Visitors can explore the buildings and courtyards, with the architecture and inscriptions telling their own story. It helps to allow plenty of time to walk slowly and notice the details in each space.

The stone inscriptions on the walls are original and date from when the building was actively used. These handwritten marks give visitors a direct connection to the people who once gathered here.
