Valley of Desolation

The Valley of Desolation is a geothermal landscape in Saint Patrick Parish with hot springs, steam vents, and boiling mud pools. Mineral deposits coat the ground throughout the area, and the water temperature is extremely hot.

The valley developed through volcanic activity over many decades, creating a network of underground thermal channels that continue to function. These geothermal processes remain active and shape the landscape to this day.

Hiking through the valley requires sturdy footwear and close attention to marked trails at all times. The extreme heat of the pools makes it necessary to keep your distance and follow warning signs carefully.

The mineral deposits paint yellow and orange patterns across the rocky ground, creating an otherworldly color palette. Rising steam columns stand out sharply against the mountain backdrop, giving the place an unusual visual quality.
