Beschrijving
Het Monumento aos Bandeirantes is een groot openluchtmonument met 23 bronzen beelden dat zich over 60 meter lengte uitstrekt. De figuren zijn verspreid over een ruim terrein dat een uitgebreide sculpturale installatie vormt.
Geschiedenis
Beeldhouwer Murilo Sá Toledo creëerde dit monument, dat in 2006 werd onthuld en Portugese verkenners afbeeldt die zich in het binnenland van Brazilië waagden tijdens de koloniale tijd. Het herdenkt deze expedities in bronzen sculptuur.
Cultuur
Het monument toont interacties tussen Portugese kolonisten, inheemse volkeren en Afrikaanse individuen door middel van gedetailleerde bronzen figuren. Deze voorstellingen stellen bezoekers in staat om waar te nemen hoe deze historische ontmoetingen zijn afgebeeld.
