Castle Howard, Landhuis in Yorkshire, Engeland.
Castle Howard is een Engels barok landhuis in Henderskelfe, Yorkshire, met een centrale koepel en twee evenwichtige vleugels. De noordgevel toont Dorische zuilen, terwijl de zuidgevel Korinthische orde draagt.
De bouw begon in 1699 onder architect John Vanbrugh voor de graaf van Carlisle en duurde ruim tien jaar voor het hoofdgebouw. Een brand in november 1940 verwoestte grote delen inclusief de koepel, voordat de opening voor publiek in 1952 volgde op de restauratie.
De naam komt van de familie Howard, die het landgoed al eeuwenlang bewoont en onderhoudt. Binnen staan grote porseleincollecties uit Sèvres en Meissen naast Romeinse sculpturen en schilderijen van Canaletto en Thomas Gainsborough.
Het landgoed is dagelijks open van 10:00 tot 17:00 uur in het hoogseizoen, terwijl in het laagseizoen het huis, de winkel en het Fitzroy-restaurant gesloten blijven. De tuinen bieden brede paden geschikt voor rolstoelen, en sommige gebieden op de begane grond van het hoofdgebouw zijn ook toegankelijk.
De koepel was oorspronkelijk gemaakt van hout en lood en moest na de brand met moderne materialen worden gereconstrueerd. Bezoekers kunnen vandaag kamers betreden die decennia lang ontoegankelijk waren en pas na uitgebreid werk werden hersteld.
