The Kazan Icon of the Mother of God Church is an Eastern Orthodox building in Moscow's Losinoostrovsky District with a clear two-level structure topped by a main dome and a smaller dome, each finished with an Orthodox cross. Inside, the space is designed to hold about 500 people during services, with a separate baptistery building and additional rooms for community activities and education.
An earlier temple dedicated to the Kazan Icon stood in this location until the 1920s, when it was lost during the Soviet period. The current building began construction in 2019 with the blessing of its foundation stone, restoring Orthodox worship to the neighborhood after decades of absence.
The church serves as a spiritual center where people gather for regular services and religious education throughout the year. A Sunday school operates here, offering both Orthodox teachings and general academic subjects to children from the local community.
The building is located in a residential part of Moscow and is accessible to visitors during service times and community events. Guests are welcome to enter the main worship space, though it is helpful to be familiar with Orthodox customs when visiting during active services.
The design brings together architect Vladimir Medievsky and archpriest Andrey Yurevich, blending traditional Orthodox forms with methods used in modern building techniques. This combination reflects how contemporary construction can honor religious architectural traditions without copying older styles.
