Croatian National Theatre in Split, Nationaal theater in Split, Kroatië
Het Kroatisch Nationaal Theater vertoont een neoclassicistische architectuur met gedetailleerde versieringen, hoge plafonds en meerdere ruimtes voor verschillende producties.
In 1893 voltooiden architecten Emilio Vecchietti en Ante Bezić dit theater, dat het grootste podiumkunsten centrum in Zuidoost-Europa werd.
Het theater onderhoudt een doorlopend programma van opera, ballet en toneelstukken, met zowel Kroatische als internationale artistieke producties.
Het gebouw beschikt over moderne technische apparatuur, comfortabele zitplaatsen en meerdere ingangen voor grote bezoekersaantallen tijdens voorstellingen.
Toen dit theater zijn deuren opende, had Split slechts 16.000 inwoners, maar het gebouw kon 1.000 toeschouwers per voorstelling ontvangen.
