The Governor Stephen Hopkins House is a colonial residence with an L-shaped layout on Hopkins Street in Providence. The building spans eight rooms across two and a half floors and displays architectural details characteristic of the colonial period.
The house dates to 1707 and was acquired by Stephen Hopkins, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, in 1742. Hopkins substantially enlarged the building during his tenure as governor of Rhode Island.
